Director Colin Tilley promised that the video for Chris Brown and Justin Bieber's "Next 2 U" would be "big," and a leaked early cut of the video is just that.
The whole thing plays out like a movie, complete with dialogue, drama, lots of action, and of course, singing and dancing. It opens with Brown and his love interest dancing, kissing and joking around with one another. Justin Bieber is then seen hugging and kissing his girlfriend and telling her, "I've been waiting for you all day," before presenting her with a necklace. Things get dark when the pair are caught together by her dad, who then takes her away.
"I told you not to see him again," he tells his daughter.
Bieber's story is intercut with Brown's. Brown is dreaming of his girl when he looks outside and sees that the world appears to be ending around them. Cars are exploding and people are running around in a panic.
As the destruction continues, Brown stands in the street singing the love song. Meanwhile, Bieber stands on a rooftop, pining for his lady, also singing the tune.
More shots of each of the happy couples play as reminders of times when things weren't so uncertain. Viewers are reminded of the destruction by the song's lyrics, "One day when the sky is falling/ I'll be standing right next to you/ Right next to you."
The couples do eventually make their way back to one another, but it's not all peachy keen when they do. Just as Brown finally meets up with his love interest after running through the streets, she's hit by a car.
As the video closes out, a big dance break takes place as Bieber's lady runs around trying to find him. They meet up on the roof where he was singing, and it appears that both couples will somehow survive their tragedies.
Before the video leaked, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, seemed confident that fans wouldn't be disappointed by the clip. He tweeted, "Just saw a rough cut of the #NEXT2YOU video with @justinbieber and @chrisbrown ! @ColinTilley is goin' in!!"

Ke$ha knows all about the perks of being a headliner. On her Get $leazy Tour, the singer gets to call all the shots, blast her fans in the face with tons of glitter and handpick which dudes she wants to party and share the stage with.
But it's not all backstage shenanigans and groupie love. When MTV News sat down with the "Blow" singer in New York earlier this week before her gig at Roseland Ballroom, Ke$ha said that amid the nightly onstage parties there have also been some poignant moments on her first headlining outing.
"Best moment? There are so many. Every night's amazing. I have kids outside right now chanting my name and it's awesome," she said of the first leg of the tour. "There was one night a fan came onstage, I invited him onstage, and he had a tattoo of the dollar sign. I was like, 'Oh, that's awesome! Badass. You're part of the cult, man.' "
And then, she said, he began to cry and explained that he was able to come out of the closet to his friends and family thanks to her song "Animal."
"And I'm standing onstage about to sing a song about growing back a pair of testicles ["Grow a Pear"] and I had tears rolling down my face and chills all over my body," she said. "Because that's really the reason I do music, to inspire people to be themselves."
Ke$ha has been a vocal supporter of the "It Gets Better" video project, which aims to help gay, bisexual and transgender youth find hope in the face of teasing and bullying.
The "Get $leazy" juggernaut continues on Saturday night with a show at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Thought She Bombed 'Transformers' Audition
'Dark of the Moon' director Michael Bay called and said, 'You're the girl,' the first-time actress tells MTV News.By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
Photo: Paramount Pictures
One of the many intriguing stories to emerge from the production and release of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is the casting of new leading lady and first-time actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. In addition to making headlines for replacing Megan Fox as the new "Transformers" "It" girl, the fact that Whiteley comes to Hollywood from the equally glamorous world of modeling has only added to her appeal.
The Victoria's Secret model's acting abilities have already been touted and praised by her co-stars, Shia LaBeouf and Tyrese Gibson, but when MTV News caught up with the newbie, we asked her about the intensity of the audition process.
"I went to the audition and really I knew nothing about the role," Whiteley said. "No one had said anything; it was just a role in 'Transformers,' so I kind of thought it would be an extra part or a cameo or something. I went in a bit blind and also, it was my first-ever audition. I went in completely not knowing what I was doing. I left feeling not confident."
Whiteley didn't have long to wallow in her uncertainty, because a couple days after that audition, director Michael Bay phoned her directly. "He was like, 'Yeah, you're the girl,' " she recalled.
Before landing the big-screen role, Whiteley had dabbled in some amateur acting via school plays and a short film for lingerie company Agent Provocateur, but "Dark of the Moon" was definitely her first real gig.
So has she been bitten by the acting bug?
"Yeah, I've been so lucky because doing this film, I got to try a little bit of everything," she said. "There's something for everyone in it: There's the romance, the comedy, the drama, the action, there's the special effects."
But as to whether we'll see her back on the big screen soon, Whiteley wasn't so sure. "I'm really hoping to do another movie," she said. "I'm working toward that, although I very much hope to stay in the fashion industry; it's my first love. We'll see what happens. I've got no idea."

T.I. Reprimanded After Overly Amorous Prison Visit With Wife Tiny
Rapper sent to restricted 'special housing unit' for violating prison rules, according to TMZ.By Gil Kaufman

Incarcerated rapper T.I., in the midst of an 11-month prison bid for probation violations, was reportedly reprimanded this weekend after getting a bit too amorous during a visit with wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle.
According to TMZ, T.I. (born Clifford Harris) was caught by guards getting "frisky" with his wife during visiting hours at the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in Arkansas over the weekend. Citing wife Tiny as its source, the gossip site said the couple was in a room during an approved conjugal visit during regular visiting hours when things got a little too hands on.
The extracurricular activity is against prison guidelines, which allow inmates to hold hands, kiss and embrace at the beginning and end of their visit, but require the prisoner's hands to "remain in plain view of Visiting Room staff at all times."
Tiny reportedly told the site that her hubby was immediately reprimanded and sent to a "special housing unit," which allows him less freedom and has tighter security. She said she hasn't spoken to Tip since the incident, but hopes that she can visit him again soon.
A spokesperson for the rapper had no comment on the incident at press time.
T.I. turned himself over to authorities on November 1 to begin his second stint in the Arkansas prison in less than a year.
The low-security prison is the same facility where the King of the South served nine months last year after he secured a plea deal with Georgia prosecutors stemming from a 2007 gun case. The experimental deal required Tip to complete 1,500 hours of community service and endure home confinement in exchange for a lesser sentence. He was also required to complete a probation period afterward. The rapper was released in March after serving out the remainder of his time at a halfway house.
He was sent back to the facility after an October 2010 arrest in Los Angeles for drug possession after police searched the couple's vehicle following a traffic violation.

Shia LaBeouf Compares 'Transformers' Gals Megan Fox, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
'You went from a biker-machine-shop chick to a woman who's fresh out of college,' LaBeouf tells MTV News about his onscreen romances.By Kara Warner

Unless you've been living under a rock and/or have avoided all news related to "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," you're likely well aware that there was much ado about actress Megan Fox leaving the franchise and, subsequently, being replaced with model/first-time actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
With the film in theaters this week, fans have moved beyond guessing about the circumstances that led to the alleged firing and hiring of Fox and Huntington-Whiteley, respectively, and turned their attention to another pressing question: How are the two characters addressed in the film? Specifically, how does one gorgeous girlfriend exit to leave room for a new one? And while we know this is a summer movie full of fantasy, is it really believable that a guy like Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) could wind up with the likes of Mikaela Banes (Fox) and Carly (Huntington-Whiteley)?
MTV News went straight to the source and enlisted LaBeouf and Huntington-Whiteley to explain the appeal and attraction of their characters, Sam and Carly, and to compare the "Dark of the Moon" relationship to the one between Sam and Mikaela, established in the first two installments.
"The relationship the first time was a person chasing after a woman that he envied out of pure vanity," LaBeouf told us. "He didn't even know her, and he gets burned by it," he added, hinting at a "Dark of the Moon" scene where his character admits to being flat-out dumped by girlfriend #1.
"[In this film], you find him with a woman who's more nurturing, who has a more maternal-type vibe; she's lighter," LaBeouf explained. "You went from a biker-machine-shop chick, which is a totally different sentiment, to a woman who's fresh out of college working for the British embassy as a diplomatic aide; it's a very different personality."
LaBeouf also revealed that before Huntington-Whiteley was cast, he suggested to director Michael Bay that they go for a girl who was the exact opposite of Megan Fox's Mikaela. "I remember pitching to Mike, 'Maybe we should go with a more bookish type,' " he recalled.
"Mike said to me — and there's two faces to this that are hilarious and insane and also genius, so three sides. I remember him saying to me, 'Shia, we're not going with any bookish anything. This is a summer movie — we need a summer girl.' To his credit, Mike really understands his audience. There's a certain audience that goes to see these movies that has certain requirements that it needs out of its summer movies."
From Huntington-Whiteley's perspective, her character sees something different in Sam than Mikaela did.
"She is so in love with him. He as a character, he's so funny, Sam, and he has such a great family in the movies," she said. "As the movie goes on, it kind of unfolds that she's had a hard time with her family. She's worked really hard, she's come from England. I think she finds him and he's the first person who adores her, as he should, and she loves that he adores her and they have this really lovely relationship," she explained. "It's a sweet thing. Shia was great to play that, with of course."

Amber Rose may have a new love in Pittsburgh rap rookie Wiz Khalifa, but the bald beauty still has a special place in her heart for ex Kanye West.
Rose, who will grace the cover of Vibe's 2011 Sexy Issue (Rick Ross is on the other) dished about Yeezy in her feature story, titled "Amber Rose's Life Doesn't Suck." Rose holds no hard feelings despite her breakup with 'Ye; actually, she still holds the rapper in high regard.
"People think me and Kanye are enemies, and we are not enemies. He wants the best for me, still," she said in the magazine. "Let me say this: I still love Kanye. I will always love him as a person. I will always love him for what he's done for me. I still always have that soft spot in my heart for him. I am not in love with him. I do not look at him in a sexual way anymore. I'm in love with someone else. I still love him as a person and want him to find happiness like I did. Everyone deserves that."
The model also admitted that she briefly dated New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush post-Yeezy, and of course she is now dating Wiz. Though she takes quite a bit of criticism for courting such famous fellows and for her newfound fame, Amber insists that she is just living her life.
"What am I supposed to do? Crawl up in a corner and die 'cause I'm not with Kanye anymore? Am I supposed to go back to the strip club and not take these opportunities that I have?"

NoSQL should be in your business, and MongoDB could lead the way
NoSQL is still not well understood, as a term or a database market category, by IT decision makers. However, one NoSQL vendor -- 10gen, creators of the open source MongoDB -- appears to be growing into enterprise accounts and distancing itself from competitors. If you're considering, or curious about, NoSQL databases, I recommend you spend some time looking at MongoDB.83rd Annual Academy Awards

Beyonce's 4 Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know
Long-awaited album finally hit stores Tuesday.By Jocelyn Vena
Beyoncé's <i>4</i>
Photo: Columbia
Beyoncé's 4 may have leaked weeks ago, but its official release date is finally upon us. It's been a long-churning album that touches on soul, '90s R&B, hip-hop and even '80s adult contemporary. Long before the album even dropped, B promised fans that the album would be eclectic — a promise that was certainly met.
"I have a lot of live instruments that I'm putting into the tracks to try to change the sound and make my own genre of music," she said about the album.
On it, she worked with a number of A-listers, including The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, Kanye West, Chad Hugo, Ryan Tedder and Diplo, to name a few. She had also been spotted in the studio with indie acts like Sleigh Bells, proving that she wanted to try anything and everything.
"I'm mixing every type of genre that I love and I'm inspired by every type of genre," she told MTV News late last year. "I'm not in a box. It's not R&B. It's not typically pop. It's not rock. It's just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music."
Which track on 4 is your favorite? Tell us on our Facebook page.
By the time 2010 was nearing its midway mark, Beyoncé finally debuted "Run the World (Girls)," a girl-power pop tune that samples Major Lazer's "Pon De Floor" and is full of so much bravado that she needed wild animals in the music video.
So why did Beyoncé name the album 4? Well, aside from the fact that it's her fourth album, she explained: "We all have special numbers in our lives, and 4 is that for me. It's the day I was born. My mother's birthday and a lot of my friends' birthdays are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date."
In addition to "Run the World (Girls)," Queen B teased fans with songs like the album's official second single, "Best Thing I Never Had," plus the promotional track "1+1" and the leaked track "Party," featuring Andre 3000.
The songs show the many sides of Beyoncé: playful, heartfelt, flirty, sexy and, yes, sassy. In the end, B wanted fans to hear all those sides of her on the album. "I also gave myself more freedom to really belt out some songs, and bring soul singing back," she explained. "I used a lot of the brassiness and grittiness in my voice that people hear in my live performances, but not necessarily on my records."
What are your thoughts on 4? Tell us in the comments!

The 10 worst cloud outages (and what we can learn from them)
As a concept, there's a lot to like about the cloud. Drop those bulky servers and get yourself a big, white hard drive in the sky. Someone else handles the upkeep and lets you put your data where you want it. Even the word "cloud" itself brings to mind a heavenly (if slightly fluffy) fantasy. The reality is, of course, a mixed bag. What you gain in avoiding upkeep, you lose in control. And the security concerns are considerable. But nowhere is the nightmare as vivid as it is when your cloud service goes down.amber rose

Britney Spears Drops Official 'Till The World Ends' Remix
New track with Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha follows leaked version, plus Brit tweets single's cover art.By Jocelyn Vena
The "Till the World Ends" Femme Fatale remix

Just days after it was leaked on Friday, Britney Spears and her femme fatales, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, dropped their official remix of "Till the World Ends."
The new version of the song was produced by Dr. Luke and Dream Machine. Brit half-whispers " 'Till the World Ends' remix" before the beat kicks in and Nicki hits her verse hard. She spits fierce lines like, "Sniff, sniff, cries/ I done slayed your whole entire f---ing life."
Then Britney's sex-kitten vocals kick in for the song's first verse. "That's Britney, bitch! I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha," the Queens MC declares before K sings the chorus. The beat is harder, the loops are sassier and the song is grimier than the original version, which was the second single from Femme Fatale. The newly added dubstep portion takes the one from "Hold It Against Me" to a new level by adding in bass-heavy synths.
Ke$ha, of course, wrote the track for Britney, and the ladies certainly don't seem to mind sharing the spotlight with each other. The official track isn't much different than the version that leaked over the weekend, though Spears did have something brand-new to share with her fans just as the song dropped on iTunes and streamed on her website.
Spears tweeted the artwork for the single, which features the original press photo of Spears along with separate photos of Nicki on the left and Ke$ha on the right. Spears wrote, "@NickiMinaj @Keshasuxx Too much fierceness for one cover! Thanks for lending your voices girls... #TTWEREMIX — Brit"
Spears and Minaj have been hanging out a lot in the lead-up to their summer tour. They hung out at the Factory nightclub on Friday night after Minaj's show in Los Angeles. Spears later wrote, "Early rehearsal after a late night with my girl @NickiMinaj. Can't WAIT to get out on the road with you."

'Me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m.,' Ke$ha tells MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena

It's prom season, and that means high schoolers across this great land will be renting tuxes, buying fancy dresses and negotiating the details of their curfews with parents. So, before you take your pictures and get in your limos, we asked some Hollywood A-listers to recall their fondest prom memories.
"I had a great prom," Ne-Yo told MTV News. "I didn't get to go with who I wanted to go with. I got my second choice, but my second choice turned out to be the one I was supposed to be there with, so it turned out good."
Ke$ha, never one to say no to a party, had the best night of all her friends. "I went to prom with my gay best friend, and let me tell you, I had way more fun than anybody else at a prom with their boyfriends," she recalled. "Everybody else was, like, crying and drama and breaking up, and me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m."
"Hellcats" star Aly Michalka doesn't have a favorite prom memory — because she never went to prom. "I was homeschooled, so I don't even think we had a fake prom," she lamented. "Like, maybe we had a home-school prom and I wasn't invited?"
While everything always seems to be in peril on "The Vampire Diaries," star Nina Dobrev had a less tumultuous night: "Having everyone get together and such a final celebration [is what I remember]."
Romeo went big for his prom. "My senior prom, I remember I pulled up in my red Ferrari. I was feeling like James Bond," he said. "And it was one of the best nights of my life."
"My favorite prom memory was probably going shopping for a dress, and our boyfriends at the time dressed up as 'Dumb & Dumber,' " Audrina Patridge laughed. "And so we were like, 'We can't dress up dorky ... we have to look good.' "
Roots drummer ?uestlove made a big decision on the night of his prom: "June 2, 1989, was my very last haircut; prom haircut, totally butchered my hair. He butchered my hair, and I vowed never again to ever get in a barber chair, so I grew that Afro on my prom night."
Adam Lambert said his prom date was a 10, so he definitely had a fun night. "I had a great prom. I had an awesome time," he said. "I went with one of my best friends in high school. Her name was Lauren, and she was really hot. She wore a really hot red dress, so I felt like I had arm candy."

To maintain its prominence, Java must evolve to meet the needs of cloud computing, the author of the popular Spring Framework for Java said on Tuesday. Java needs continued productivity increases and must accommodate nonrelational data stores like Hadoop to thrive in the cloud, said Spring founder Rod Johnson, senior vice president at VMware, at the Jax Java conference in San Jose, Calif. Ke$ha Wants 'Till The World Ends' Remix To 'Take Over Airwaves'
Singer says her collaboration with Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj made a 'supergroup of three hot, strong women.'By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias

Photo: MTV News
Earlier this week, Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj dropped their femme-fatale-friendly remix of the Spears club track "Till the World Ends." The already fun song got super-charged thanks to Minaj's cutting verses and Ke$ha's recognizable vocals.
"I'm a massive fan of both the ladies I share the track with," K told MTV News on Wednesday at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards. "I wrote 'TTWE' for Britney with [producers] Dr. Luke and Max [Martin] and she killed it and I loved it, but I just thought a supergroup of three hot, strong women could just take over the airwaves."
Ke$ha went on to give props to both the ladies. "I'm such a massive fan of Britney and I'm such a massive supporter of Nicki and a fan, and chicks sometimes don't team up. I don't know why, but I'm, like, huge on the girl power, so I just wanted to make a power girl track take over."
The remix quickly won praise from fans who seem to think the new features step up the song's game. "You know, with the three of us, I wasn't necessarily surprised [people like it] because I'm such a massive fan of Nicki Minaj and obviously with Britney I'm a fan of it, [taking] myself out of the equation," she said. "I'm just happy people like it."
So did Ke$ha (who once sang backup for Spears) feel any pressure writing a song for Britney? "There was no pressure. Writing for somebody else is really fun 'cause I consider myself a songwriter first and foremost," she explained. "So it was so much fun to put my brain in the sexy Britney Spears brain and express myself almost as if I were possessed by her."

Bruno Mars Fans Brave Rain For 'Today' Performance
Mars performed 'Lazy Song,' 'Just the Way You Are' and more at 'Today' show performance in Rockefeller Center.By Danielle Genet

NEW YORK — Rainy, misty weather did not stop Bruno Mars "hooligans" from attending his concert at the Plaza at Rockefeller Center early Friday morning (June 24) for the "Today" show. Fans came from all around the country, some even camping out since 10 p.m. the previous night, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Grammy Award winner. Mars didn't disappoint, performing his hits "The Lazy Song," "Runaway Baby" and "Just the Way You Are" off of his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
"He's an amazing singer, performer. [His Grammy win] makes me like him even more," fan Kathy Ramos, who had been waiting since 1 a.m., said.
Fans created hundreds of homemade signs hoping to catch Mars' eye. Megan Carroll and Kayla Dee, both 16, lined up late Thursday night and were excited to see Mars perform. "We love him. We saw him a month ago and we needed to go again. The rain's annoying, but it's definitely worth it," Carroll said.
Munzath Ashraf and Sundus Arain, both 18, arrived around 4 a.m. for the show. "We love Bruno Mars and we want to make sure we get in," Ashraf said.
More than 2,000 fans arrived early this morning, surprising local police and even host Ann Curry, who proclaimed this concert was the "biggest crowd of the year" for the "Today" show concert series.
The line to get inside the barricades wrapped around at least three blocks. But the limited space and the massive crowd left many fans unable to see the show. Even fans who had waited for hours weren't able to get inside the barricade. Both Ashraf and Arain ended up leaving even before they saw Mars.
"We are really disappointed. The stage was just too low to the ground and people were crying and trying to jump on our shoulders," Ashraf explained.
Mars hit the stage sleekly dressed in a black Dolce & Gabbana suit with a hot pink shirt and black tie along with dark shades, but without his signature short-brimmed fedora hat. The singer started his set with "The Lazy Song," which really got the crowd amped. After his first song, Matt Lauer and Mars talked for a few minutes and commented on how much larger the crowd was today as compared to his last appearance on the show eight months ago. Mars, who continues to gain notoriety and success as a solo artist, told Lauer, "They're making signs for me. I'm just happy I'm here. I really got lucky."
When asked if he plans to keep writing for other artists (Mars has previously written for Cee-Lo Green, B.o.B and Travie McCoy), Mars joked, "Absolutely not. I'm done," and then added "Of course."
For his next song, Mars sang "Runaway Baby" and playfully danced along with his band. To close the set, Mars sang a jazzy rendition of "Just the Way You Are," with the whole crowd singing along. And as if on cue, the rain really started to come as soon as Mars ended his set.

Neil Gaiman Reflects On 'American Gods,' 10 Years Later
Author talks about his 2001 book as a 10th-anniversay edition is released and with a TV show on the way.By Rick Marshall
Neil Gaiman
Photo: MTV News
Neil Gaiman's award-winning novel "American Gods" first hit shelves back in 2001, sweeping up readers in a cross-country adventure that explored a world in which the gods of old struggled to remain relevant in modern American culture. Ten years later, "American Gods" is returning to shelves in a new form, celebrating its anniversary with an expanded, "author's preferred text" edition and the announcement of an upcoming television series based on the book.
"The truth is, as an author, all you are is grateful if you turn around 10 years after you wrote something and it's still in print," Gaiman told MTV News of all the fanfare surrounding the novel's 10th anniversary. "It makes me ridiculously happy as an author, but mostly it makes me ridiculously happy that my book is being read."
For Gaiman, "American Gods" offered a way to put words to his own experience in moving to America from England and the difference between how people view America from the outside and the eccentricities you discover from the inside of American culture.
"All of the things that I loved about America that just seemed weird went into 'American Gods,' " he laughed. "I was fascinated by the way people coming to America tried to become 'American.' The idea of using old gods as a way of talking about what people bring with them when they come to America was a really fun one."
Gaiman recalled one particular discovery he made upon moving to the Midwest that was a prime example of the sort of local norms that informed "American Gods."
"There were weird little things like people driving cars out onto the ice in the winter on frozen lakes and then taking bets on when they'd go through the ice when the snow melted," he explained. "Little things like that, where I would turn around and go, 'Does anyone else here think this is weird?' And everyone else would go, 'Nope, This is how it is.'
"[When] I moved to America, I thought that I knew what America was," he said. "I'd been writing stories set in America for seven to eight years, I'd been coming to America for visits, and more importantly, I grew up watching American television and reading American books. And then I moved to America and found it was really weird, in ways that nobody had told me."
Along with giving readers a chance to revisit — or encounter for the first time — all of that aforementioned weirdness, the 10th-anniversary edition of "American Gods" will also feature more than 10,000 words omitted from his initial draft of the novel. The extra material will consist of expanded chapters, essays and even a few interviews he chose to include.
The audio counterpart to the new edition will also receive a full cast recording as opposed to a solo narrator — something he decided to do after participating in a podcast with filmmaker Kevin Smith.
"About six months ago, my wife Amanda Palmer and I were being interviewed by Kevin Smith for his Smodcast, and Amanda did some songs, and I thought I should do something that's fun too," he said. "So I printed out a scene from 'American Gods,' and I narrated it and made Kevin and Amanda act. At the end of it, I walked away going, 'That was really good!' It was just meant to be this mad, goofy thing we did, but it was really good."
And just in case the best-selling original version of the book, the new 10th-anniversary edition or both audio versions don't put "American Gods" back on the mainstream radar, there's also the upcoming HBO television series based on the novel. Gaiman is attached to write and executive-produce the series with Tom Hanks' Playtone production studio developing the adaptation. Renowned cinematographer Robert Richardson is attached to co-write the pilot with Gaiman.
"The overall plan right now is that the first season would essentially be the first book, with a few interesting divergences," Gaiman said of the television series. "You don't want people who've read the book to be able to go, 'I know everything that's going to be happening here.' [They will] know a lot more than anybody who's starting from here, but we will do things that will surprise [them] too."
With Gaiman indicating that the first season of the television series will encompass "the first book," it was only natural to ask about his plans for an "American Gods" sequel.
"I've been [planning] to do a second 'American Gods' book since the first 'American Gods' book," he laughed. "What I basically have right now is a boxful of stuff. Things go into it. I always knew there was going to be more story.
"The first book was very much about the grifters and the lowlifes, and you don't really get to see much of the new gods and you don't really get a sense of those gods who are doing incredibly well in America," he said. "In the second book, I definitely want to go into both of those things."

Lil Wayne On 'Stan' Redo 'Dear Anne': 'I Just Don't Like It'
Weezy reveals to XXL that the Swizz Beatz collabo was intended for 2008's Tha Carter III.By Alvin Blanco

Lil Wayne is his own biggest critic. Although the Swizz Beatz-produced "Dear Anne (Stan Part 2)" leaked online weeks ago to generally positive reviews, Lil Tunechi is not particularly fond of the song.
Swizz Beatz talked to Mixtape Daily about his collaboration with Weezy last year, mentioning that the song's beat was originally intended for Eminem. But after Em passed on recording a "Stan 2" for his Recovery album, Weezy recorded the song and Swizz hoped to include it on his upcoming Haute Living album. However, Weezy told XXL that "Dear Anne" is a holdover from his multiplatinum 2008 album.
"That was actually a record for Tha Carter III that just leaked," Wayne told the magazine. "It leaked out, and everybody's thinking that it's going on Tha Carter IV 'cause I was actually gonna put it on Tha Carter IV. But I had been listening to it and didn't like it. I don't like it 'cause the song, all the verses are old. And me being a perfectionist, I hate going with old verses."
Despite Wayne's trepidation, some heads in his YMCMB camp think the song should be a go. "Mack and Tez and them, they love it," Wayne said, referring to Young Money president/artist Mack Maine and his manager Cortez Bryant, respectively. "They be like, 'Man, you trippin', you killed it.' I be like, 'Did you hear what I just said? I don't wanna do that anymore.' But I heard that the 'Anne' song has been getting buzzed up and everybody's buzzin' about it, so it might end up one of those you might have to put on the album, you know what I mean. But I ain't trippin' on it like that; I don't like the song. I love the beat; I love the idea. I don't like my execution. I don't like what I did. I don't like how I delivered on it. The idea that I had for it, I didn't accomplish that, what I thought I was gonna do. 'Cause I was tryna make it a situation song. And I just don't like it."
Wayne may have to decide whether "Dear Anne" makes the cut sooner than later. Reportedly, the "How to Love" rapper's long-delayed Tha Carter IV's release date has been moved up by a week to August 22.
Lil Wayne is on the cover of XXL magazine's July/August 2011 issue, hitting newsstands July 12.

'The Hobbit': First-Look Photos Of Bilbo, Gandalf Hit Net
Martin Freeman's eagerly anticipated prequel Bilbo Baggins turns up in character, complete with hairy feet and pointy ears.By Eric Ditzian

Although he's busy once again creating a Middle Earth-like world in the wilds of New Zealand, "Hobbit" director Peter Jackson has done an excellent job keeping fans of J. R. R. Tolkien's fantastical creations looped into the production. He's been posting photos, videos and updates on his Facebook page for months — including a few pics of himself in what appears to be Bilbo Baggins' home.
But what we haven't seen until now are official photos of the stars in character and on set. That's all changing, thanks to three pics posted by Entertainment Weekly. One image features Martin Freeman as Bilbo, another focuses on Ian McKellan as Gandalf, and the last captures both Freeman and Jackson in that familiar home.
The first photo is the one fans have been waiting years to see: a real-life representation of Bilbo himself. After all the production delays, the speculation and the rumors about the casting of the central character (James McAvoy? Daniel Radcliffe?), we finally are getting a look at Freeman (perhaps best known from the British version of "The Office") in character, complete with hairy feet, pointy ears and shaggy hair.
''He fits the ears and he's got some very nice feet,'' Jackson told EW about Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo. ''I think he's got the biggest hobbit feet we've had so far. They're a little bit hard to walk in, but he's managed to figure out the perfect hobbit gait.''
The second pic captures, in Gandalf, someone we're very familiar with from the "Lord of the Rings" series but who will be surrounded by a new cast of characters in this prequel story, the first part of which hits theaters in December 2012.
''He's in fantastic form,'' Jackson said of McKellan. ''In a way, his role in 'The Hobbit' has more technical difficulties than 'Lord of the Rings' did, because he has scenes with 14 smaller characters — obviously the dwarves and the hobbit are shorter. ... I remember saying to him [laughs], 'Look, this isn't "Waiting for Godot" or "King Lear." This is "The Hobbit." This is the real thing. ' "
The final photo takes us inside an on-set conversation with Jackson and Freeman, one of roughly a zillion the two are likely to have, considering how long the shoot will last. ''There's no way you can pace yourself for shoots like these,'' the director said. ''When we were going through the schedule for 'The Hobbit,' I felt a terrible drop in my stomach when I saw that we'd be shooting for 254 days. We're only 12 days short of 'The Lord of the Rings,' even though we're only doing two movies. When I saw that, I had to sort of pick myself up off the floor and carry on."

Taylor Swift Is 'A Pretty Normal Girl,' Emma Stone Says
At the country/pop star's urging, Stone talks about her secret baking skills during MTV's Sneak Peek Week.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Emma Stone and Taylor Swift are best gal pals. Stone has opened up about Swift in the past, revealing that the superstar "has such a sick sense of humor," and when Stone sat down for a Q&A about "The Help" during MTV's Sneak Peek Week, she divulged a bit more about their relationship.
So is Stone digging Swift's latest album, Speak Now? "I am indeed. I was lucky enough to hear it pretty early on, so it's so exciting for it to be out and own the songs instead of just be singing them [in my head]," she dished, sharing that just because Swift is one of the biggest pop stars in the world doesn't mean she's at all critical of her friends who can't sing as well as her.
"Taylor's a pretty normal girl," Stone said. " ... She's not [like], 'I am one of the world's most popular singers.' "
Stone's kind words came shortly after an email was read to her from her superstar pal who wanted to know more about her love of baking. "I've been baking at least once a day," she shared, revealing some of the sweet treats she's been making the past few months.
While she's got some sweet skills when it comes to confections, when she attempts to bake for a large group, the results aren't as delicious. "I made 60 biscuits once for a party," she said. "They didn't turn out so great, though. I think in bulk I'm a little subpar."
Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Justin Bieber, Chris Brown's 'Next 2 U' Video Leaks
Early cut of clip depicts dramatic love stories for both singers intertwined with apocalyptic theme.By Jocelyn Vena
Justin Bieber
Photo: Getty

'Spider-Man' Musical Debuts After Web Of Issues
'If you are really trying something extraordinary, it's going to be difficult,' original director Julie Taymor tells MTV News at premiere.By Kara Warner, with reporting by Rick Marshall
"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark"

After months and months of pre-production, including injured actors, troubles with the script and a complete overhaul, the beleaguered Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" officially opened on the Great White Way on Tuesday night (June 14).
MTV News braved the rain and crowds at the Foxwoods Theater in the heart of midtown Manhattan to chat with the musical's production team about what the show's fits and starts have taught them along the way.
"It's just hard to do anything when you're trying to do something new and big and different," original director Julie Taymor said of the challenges. "If you are really trying something extraordinary, it's going to be difficult. And that's OK, because eventually you get there."
"I think what happened is that when they were in previews, they discovered that the demographic was so big, they had 6-year-old children in the audience, they had 86-year-old grandparents in the audience. They wanted to make sure the show could reach out to all of them," explained new director Philip William McKinley.
"I think we tried to make the story a bit more linear," added writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. "But we also tried to bring the characters that fans know and love, Mary Jane, Aunt May, Uncle Ben, the Green Goblin, we tried to give them more material and go a little bit deeper on their journeys."
McKinley told a story about watching two young boys in the theater's lobby "webbing" each other after one of the preview performances, who declared it the "best Broadway show ever" and said they couldn't wait to see their next musical.
"I thought, 'Perfect, let's develop those new audiences,' " McKinley said of bringing more people into the theater experience.
"The people that we've met in the community who really care for the art, they want to see new blood, they want to see new innovation," said Bono, who wrote songs for the show with U2 bandmate The Edge. "They want to see new characters onstage, and I think we brought that."

Miley Cyrus Snapped Stumbling Because Of Paparazzi Lights
'Party in the U.S.A.' star was blinded by flashes after meeting with producer Dr. Luke, sources tell MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena

When photos of Miley Cyrus outside of Hollywood's Chateau Marmont hit the Internet on Tuesday (March 15), gossip blogs claimed the star was stumbling around the L.A.-area hotspot after a night of partying. But sources close to Cyrus tell MTV News the rumors are all wrong.
Miley was in a meeting with producer Dr. Luke at the hotel, where they discussed writing music for other artists. Luke and Cyrus worked together on her hit "Party in the U.S.A." According to sources, the teen superstar was actually blinded by the flashing lights of the paparazzi, not stumbling, as had been reported earlier on Tuesday.
Last week, Cyrus made headlines defending her mom against paparazzi gathered outside of the California Chicken Cafe in West Hollywood, California. She confronted one of the photographers, telling him, "You just hit my mom with your camera, don't you ever do that again. You just almost hurt my mom. Don't you ever even think about it, for real."
Cyrus has often expressed her displeasure with the celebrity photogs. "I just [want] people to know, I think in pictures I always look upset. It's because these cameras are following me. I just think it's really kind of unfair," she shared in a September video blog.
"I know there are some people that maybe like that attention, but I'm not one of them. I really just want to be able to go on walks and enjoy where I live. ... The paparazzi really frustrate me, and it makes me really upset that I'm being followed around by men that I don't know, and for anyone else, it would be considered stalking. I don't know who those guys are. I don't know if they're good guys or bad guys. I don't necessarily care; I don't want anyone following me."
In spite of the unwanted media attention, Cyrus is already having a good 2011. She recently showed off her funny side as a host on "Saturday Night Live" and she has two flicks, "LOL" and "So Undercover," set for release this year.

Taylor Swift Is 'A Pretty Normal Girl,' Emma Stone Says
At the country/pop star's urging, Stone talks about her secret baking skills during MTV's Sneak Peek Week.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Emma Stone
Photo: MTV News
ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the "America's Best Dance Crew" finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of "After Hours." To get into the magical movie mood, it's Sneak Peek Week -- five days of exclusives and interviews with the casts of "Fright Night," "Horrible Bosses" and more. Miley Cyrus is ready to take her music back on the road. The teen superstar is in the planning process for a full-scale international tour, E! News confirms.
Miley will kick off the tour on April 29 at Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito, Ecuador. Then she will take the show to Lima, Peru, at Explanada del Monumental, on May 1. The singer/actress, who has already begun a workout regime to prep for the tour, is set to announce more dates soon. There are no immediate plans for her to play shows in the United States.
"Miley has a huge fanbase worldwide," a source told E! News. "She's pumped that her schedule has opened up and allowed her to perform for fans abroad."
For those who might not be able to see her on tour, Cyrus has resumed tweeting. No, the star has not reinstated her account, like Demi Lovato, but instead will send messages from the Twitter account of production team Rock Mafia. Cyrus is attached to a big-screen adaptation of the group's music video for their track "The Big Bang," which she starred in with Kevin Zegers.
"This is my new way to connect. When I need to speak out I will tweet from @Rock_Mafia ROCK MAFIA FOREVER. x MC," she tweeted, including a picture of herself and the group's Antonina Armato, who added, "Writing with Miley on a Rainy Sunday #Heaven!"
Cyrus has been meeting with lots of music producers recently. Last week she met with "Party in the U.S.A." producer Dr. Luke. Sources tell MTV News that Miley is interested in writing more for other artists.

Lil Wayne Producer Bangladesh Explains How '6'7" ' Came To Be
'It's unfortunate that political things happen and it messes up the music of creative people,' beatmaker says of his financial issues with Cash Money.By Jayson Rodriguez
Lil Wayne
Photo: Vallery Jean/ FilmMagic
Huh? That was the collective response when it was discovered that Lil Wayne's new track "6'7" " was produced by Bangladesh, the musical maestro behind Weezy's "A Milli." Ever since "A Milli" became a phenomenon, Bangladesh expressed frustration with Cash Money's financial operations and the two hadn't worked together.
But after the producer crafted the track that would eventually become "6'7"," things began shifting in place for a reunion. According to Bangladesh, Gee Roberson (an executive at Atlantic Records), requested music for T.I.'s album.
"I already know how T.I. is and how he is and how he thinks," Bangladesh told MTV News, explaining that the two parties, while friendly, haven't been able to connect musically in the past. "I had given up on sending him music. You know, sometimes everything ain't for people. And even though it might be great, it might not be their direction."
Turns out, it wasn't — but Roberson had a suggestion.
" 'Wayne will kill this, man,' " Bangladesh recalls the executive, who also co-manages Drake, saying. " 'This is Wayne.' He was right. He was absolutely right."
That conversation was the starting point between the producer and Wayne reuniting.
"It was the first step to resolving the relationship among each other," he said. "Not the business side of it. Like, everything that happened and everything I said [before] was true. But to move on, you have to see progression. So I had to learn that there was things that had changed over in the camp and the business department. Once I confirmed that from reliable sources, I could move on. And it really has never been a Wayne issue. I f---ed with him. It's just, it's unfortunate that political things happen and it messes up the music of creative people where we can't feed the consumer what they really want to hear."

'Green Lantern' Tops Weekend Box Office
But Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan failed to gather as much green as observers may have hoped.By Ryan J. Downey

Photo: Warner Bros.
The big-screen debut of DC Comics' "emerald knight" may have been #1 at the box office over the weekend but it failed to gather as much green as most observers had hoped. "Green Lantern" generated an estimated $52.6 million in its debut weekend, less than the opening numbers for superhero flicks "Thor" and "X-Men: First Class" earlier this year.
The heavily marketed potential franchise starter, which stars Ryan Reynolds, cost an estimated $200 million to produce. To put the numbers in perspective, fewer people saw "Green Lantern" on opening weekend than the film adaptations of lesser known superheroes like "Daredevil" and "Ghost Rider."
And critics were not kind to the film. "Green Lantern is a new primer on how not to make a comic book movie ... flat FX, smirky acting, clunky writing and clueless direction," Rolling Stone wrote.
"Mr. Popper's Penguins" was also something of a disappointment relative to previous Jim Carrey comedies. The film, based on the classic book of the same name, opened with $18.2 million, which wasn't enough to beat last week's #1 movie, "Super 8." J.J. Abrams' throwback homage to '80s movies like "E.T." earned another $21.2 million in its second weekend for a $72.7 million total.
"X-Men: First Class" was #4 over the weekend with $11.5 million, for a $199.9 million total. While the comic-book flick's numbers are lower than most of the movies in the mutant-hero franchise, the reboot/prequel hybrid has enjoyed the best critical response for an "X-Men" movie since "X2."
"The Hangover 2" rounded out the top five with $9.6 million, for a $232.7 million total. And this weekend's new releases include Disney/Pixar's "Cars 2" and the Cameron Diaz comedy "Bad Teacher." Michael Bay's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" follows on Wednesday, June 29.

Wiz Khalifa Explains Why Rolling Papers Has Few Collabos
'I figured with my first album I could accomplish establishing my own identity,' Wiz tells MTV News.By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Steven Roberts
Wiz Khalifa
Photo: MTV News
Wiz Khalifa is riding high. The Pittsburgh rapper's debut, Rolling Papers, sold 197,000 copies in its first week of release, enough to land the album at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
For Wiz, the success is made sweeter because although the album's biggest hit so far is the Stargate-produced "Black and Yellow," nearly half of the production on the record was provided by longtime Khalifa producers and collaborators I.D. Labs.
"Other than making sure that my people that I came up with get filthy rich, I wanted to keep the sound consistent," Wiz told MTV News about using his in-house team of beatmakers. "I wanted to really stick with what I know and build on that, other than getting in the position and completely switching. Take it to the next level was more what I had in mind."
Another familiar industry name made the album in spite of the fact that he, too, wasn't in Wiz's immediate circle.
"We decided to add Too Short on 'On My Level' when we were deciding to do the video," Wiz said of the first song he recorded for the album. "I wanted to do something bigger than just doing a video with me 'cause people were used to that at that time. So I was like, 'Let's just use our powers and holla at Too Short.'
"I've always been a big fan, ya know," Wiz explained. "So when we did it, he knocked it straight out, which was a big deal for me. And then he was with getting in the video; that was really big for me too."
The only other featured rappers on Rolling Papers are Taylor Gang member Chevy Woods on "Star of the Show" and New Orleans MC Curren$y on "Rooftops." Despite major co-signs from star MCs like Rick Ross and Snoop Dogg, Wiz made a conscious decision to keep the album's guest list to a minimum.
"I trimmed it down and I just kept it regular because I wanted to save that suspense of me working with these other artists and making these huge records," Wiz said. "I wanted to save that. I figured with my first album I could accomplish establishing my own identity and that's what I really wanted to do with this music and when that happens, I can do all that other stuff."

50 Cent Clears Up Twitter Label Drama
Fif also reveals that he is on Dr. Dre's next single, 'The Psycho.'By Rob Markman
50 Cent
Photo: Michael Tran/ FilmMagic
50 Cent went into renegade mode Thursday, blasting his label on Twitter and releasing his new single "Outlaw" independently of Interscope. Don't get it twisted, however: The G-Unit General isn't just acting off of emotion. This is all part of his plan to light a fire under the label in preparation of his fifth, yet-untitled album. (50 confirmed to MTV News that this is not the Black Magic album he had announced in 2010.)
On April 18, Fif announced via Twitter that he was going to be dropping a single from his new album, but never did. When MTV News caught up with him a few days later on the L.A. set of Nicole Scherzinger's "Right There" video, 50 backtracked, saying that instead, he opted to work in conjunction with Interscope on the release.
"So I had the record I was ready to launch, and we sat down and everybody talked," Fif told MTV News in an interview Friday (June 17). "What happens is, there are a lot of people involved in my actual launch, because its three parties; it's Shady, then you got Aftermath, then you got Interscope, and then you got me on my end. So by the time we got to go sit down with [Interscope chairman] Jimmy [Iovine], we talked a little bit, and then I ended up having to go see Dre, because we had the little issue, the confusion about the Twitter stuff."
The "Twitter stuff" the Southside Jamaica, Queens, rapper is referencing is when he charged on the social-networking site that Dre and Jimmy Iovine were "mad" because Fif announced that he was developing his own brand of high-end headphones to rival the Good Doctor's Beats by Dre.
"We sat down, we cleared that up, me and Dre, and then we said, 'Let's just get back to the music and do what we do,' " Curtis said before revealing his and Dre's next move. "Immediately after, we wrote a song together called 'The Psycho'; it's Dre's next single."
After making peace with his partners, it was 50's intention to release his own single with his label's support and have a record that would impact radio so he could perform at Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. There was no single and, subsequently, no 50 Cent at the show, which took place June 5. "Why would I be going to Summer Jam to perform a bunch of feature songs?" the rapper asked rhetorically. "That's not for me. I rather not be there than to go through that."
Things took a turn Thursday when the MC tweeted: "Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and sh-- feels like there moving in slow motion," adding that he wouldn't drop an album in 2011 unless Interscope got "on the same page." Then he premiered his new song "Outlaw" later that evening in an effort to cause excitement for his upcoming LP, which will be his last on Interscope.
Though he is visibly concerned about how the rollout of his album is being handled, Fif wants to be clear about where he places the blame. "It's not necessarily Dre or Jimmy; it's more the guys that they pass the responsibilities onto. It takes longer for people, because they'll be like, 'OK, we're gonna do this and we're gonna do that,' and the building will start having those conversations, but they're not actually moving at that point."

Miley Cyrus Was 'Up For Anything' On 'SNL,' Kristen Wiig Says
'That's always, to me, what makes a host fun to have around,' she tells MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

If Miley Cyrus seemed loose hosting "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, it's because she was.
"SNL" castmember Kristen Wiig tells MTV News the teen queen was not only a blast to have on the set, but also didn't seem to suffer from any anxiety about doing live TV.
"Yes, Miley [was fun to work with]," Wiig said while in New York on Monday (March 7) doing press for her alien-comedy flick, "Paul." "She's cool. It was really, really fun."
Guest host Miley poked fun at her own infamous bong video controversy, as well as at Justin Bieber — whom she played alongside Vanessa Bayer, who just so happens to play Cyrus on the "SNL" skit "The Miley Cyrus Show." Cyrus even went for Lindsay Lohan and Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie. And it was Cyrus' willingness to have a little fun at her own expense that made her the perfect host, according to Wiig.
"Yeah, she was great," the actress said. "She was up for anything. That's always, to me, what makes a host fun to have around. They'll make fun of themselves or how the media perceives them. She was up for anything, which was so great."
In addition to the performance by the Strokes, some of the night's other highlights included Miley's musical number "I'm Sorry I'm Not Perfect" and "Disney Channel Acting School," where Miley and fellow Disney star Raven Symoné (played by Kenan Thompson) taught such subjects such as "Reacting to Stinky Feet" and "Spying in a Doorway," required skills for any actor on a Disney series.

'Harry Potter' Actress Emma Watson Sick Of Having 'No Control' Over Her Life
'I have lived in a complete bubble,' 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' star tells Vogue.By Eric Ditzian

When we caught up with Emma Watson at the MTV Movie Awards afterparty earlier this month, the 21-year-old Brit confessed, "I'm having the time of my life."
For the first time in her professional career, Watson is free of the all-encompassing "Harry Potter" franchise and has set about creating for herself a cinematic second act — one that has nothing to do with Hogwarts and Hermione Granger. It's been a long time coming, as the actress admitted in a new Vogue cover story.
"I have had no control over my life," Watson said. "I have lived in a complete bubble. They found me and picked me for the part. And now I'm desperately trying to find my way through it."
The first move she made was signing on to an adaptation of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," a provocative novel about teenage life in America. She also dropped out of Brown University in March, after years of fighting to continue her education while also remaining committed to one of the biggest film franchises on Earth.
"I have felt for the last 10 years I have had this battle — I've been fighting so hard to have an education. It's been this uphill struggle," she said. "I was Warner Bros.' pain in the butt. I was their scheduling conflict. I was the one who made life difficult."
Now fully outside the "Potter" bubble, Watson is trying, as she put it, "to really enjoy the good things because it makes the bad things OK." Among those unwelcome things is the constant attention of the paparazzi. And when she does begin a new relationship (her previous one ended last summer), she hopes the tabloid spotlight won't spoil the romance.
"I'm a feminist, but I think that romance has been taken away a bit for my generation. I think what people connect with in novels is this idea of an overpowering, encompassing love — and it being more important and special than anything and everything else," she said. "I would love to not date someone in the same industry as me. Otherwise it becomes what it means to everyone else."
